Recently I was watching, for a few minutes, a program on Educational Television where I learned there are a lot of “educated” idiots out in this world.

They were trying to explain that Islam, Judaism and Christianity believed in the same god. It dawned on me that these people had no concept of the Bible, or for that matter the Koran.

A few years back I had a man, who was supposed to be a Christian, try to tell me that Muslims and Christians believed in the same god but the Muslims just didn’t believe in Jesus. I asked him if he knew the Bible.

Lets examine all three, Judaism, Islam, and Christianity:

First all three do have some “minor” items that are the same. All three list Abraham in their past- but that is where Islam leaves Christianity and Judaism. They believe Ishmael received God’s blessing.

But the Bible, which was written thousands of years before Mohamad started his own personal religion (headed by satan) and have been at odds with God’s people ever since, stated:

Gen. 17:15-21, God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.” Abraham fell face down; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?” And Abraham said to God, “If only Ishmael might live under your blessing!” Then God said, “Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah will bear to you by this time next year.”

Gen. 18:10-14, Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Gen.21: 1-5, Now the Lord was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the Lord did for Sarah what he had promised. Sarah became pregnant and bore a son to Abraham in his old age, at the time God had promised him. Abrahan gave the name Isaac to the son Sarah bore him. When his son Isaac was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, as God commanded him. Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born.

As we read, especially in Gen. 17:21, God made it clear that Isaac, not Ishmael, was the one to receive the blessing that God had specially reserved for Abraham’s decedents.

So as I said, there is where Mohamad went astray, but actually it was in not believing in the God of the Bible, then “created” his own god that would allow him to do as “he” pleased.

Ok, now we see Islam is not the same as Judaism nor Christianity- so lets look at these two:

Now that promise to Abraham was much more than the physical promise of decedents and promise of the land. It did concern those too but as I said “much” more.

The Jews do recognize that the Messiah would be a descendant do David, as do Christians, the clue is in:
I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.

Gen. 12:1-3, The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you;
I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

The clue here is “everlasting” and “all peoples will be blessed through you.” Now nothing is everlasting but God, and not just the Jews are to be blessed.

So we see God is talking about someone more than “just” another person, but that the Messiah would be for all peoples.

All through God’s Word we see God is BIG on believing Him and having faith in Him and what He says. So it is essential to believe- to receive this blessing He speaks of.

There are many “religions” around the world but none has a guarantee but Christianity, because it is following the One that God sent and paid the price God required for sinful man.

Which brings me to another point that I’ll cover in a different post- Jesus did ALL that His Father desired Him to do and it was to satisfy His Father that He suffered and died!

We become children of God when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior- remember “Lord” because if we chose to live apart from what Jesus says we don’t love Him:

John 14: 23-27, Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Best place to end is on God’s Word!
