We all have heard of the account of the Flood that covered the entire world and killed all that lived on land, of course the sea animals and fish would not have died. But have you even considered all the things that happened that this event caused.

Genesis 7: 1-5, The Lord then said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal a male and its mate, and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and for forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.”

And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him. Noah was six hundred years when the flood waters came on the earth. And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.

How about why there are Buffalo in North America but no where else? Or African and Indian lions, or Elephants not in North America. We don’t have the Tasmanian Devil but Australia does. They don’t have the Giraffe but Africa does. Why is it that although ALL animals were at the exact same place when the flood ended and then they were scattered all over the earth?

Gensis 7: 7-12, And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives entered the ark to escape the waterer’s of the flood. Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.

And after seven days the floodwaters came on the earth. In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, on the seventeenth day of the second month-on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of heavens opened And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

People believe that prior to this time it had not rained, which may be incorrect thinking and teaching.

Genesis 2: 5-6, Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground.

What is written about water coming up from the ground is what people use for this belief. This is not a direct teaching of Scripture, at face value teaches only that there was no rain before Adam was created. It doesn’t rule out rain at any later time before the Flood, as great commentators such as John Calvin pointed out.

Plus, notice He said, “There was no plants and no man.” Which He remedied with Adam and Eden! πŸ™‚

A related fallacy is that the rainbow covenant of Genesis 9:12–17 proves that there were no rainbows before the flood. As Calvin pointed out, God frequently invested existing things with new meanings, like the bread and wine at the Lord’s Supper.

But how did these animals get to all the different continents when many don’t swim and like the Badger or Tasmanian Devil would not be an animal that anyone would desire carrying with them on a trip?

Gen. 10:25, Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was devided; his brother was named Joktan.
Peleg means division.

Some do not believe this means that the land was split, but that it was a splitting of the people. Since technology has progressed as much as it has, we have placed satellites in the air that look down on the earth. It is a documented fact the continents are “very slowly” moving apart. Which according to those much more intelligent than me, say it all has to do with the earthquakes and volcanoes.

Another Scripture to indicate the land has split is:

Gen. 2:13, And the name of the second river is the Gihon: the same is that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

Usually I use the NIV but this time I did use KJV since the NIV doesn’t mention Ethiopia here. This is the story as to the rivers caused by the river flowing out of Eden! Ethiopia is in Africa and where the river came from was in Europe. TWO different continents today!

Remember these were pairs of animals that could walk and migrate over land and end up on different parts of the “one” continent as it “slowly” divided into the 7 we have today. Also because animals adapt to their environment it also would explain why the Polar Bear is so much different to the Black Bear of North America.

So my theory, based off of the forgoing Scripture and since there is NO direct statement saying so in God’s Word, that there was one continent. The animals came out of the Ark, going in different directions. Continued to travel even after raising young – in families, flocks, herds etc., and as the land slowly split ended up on separate continents. πŸ™‚
