Today as is many days, I was driving down the road and noticed a trailer sitting in the yard of a house that had burned and therefore no one lives there anymore. The first thought that entered my mind was how it seemed no one needed nor wanted that trailer and I need to haul things so why not take it for myself.

That is the type of thing I used to would have done and although I would not do it today because Jesus changed me. But it seems that although I have been changed and would not steal the trailer, it still comes across my mind.

Why? Because I still have this sinful flesh, the Spirit and Soul is what is different. I remember Jesus saying, “The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.” He of course wasn’t speaking of Himself but of His disciples when they were sleeping, Matt. 26: 40-43.

He understands my weaknesses although that is NOT an excuse to sin, there NEVER is, we are to “struggle” against these things. We are in a battle and that is why Paul spoke of our need to prepare for battle:

(Eph 6:10-17 (NIV) …Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled round your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.)

The responsibility is ours to avoid the temptations that come our way, meaning God has provided us with a way out, His part is done in our lives everyday!

Will satan ever quit hounding us with temptations? Yes, when he is burning in the Lake of Fire. Until then, man kind will have to accept the fact he will hound us each with the particular things he knows bothers us. He never bothers me with alcohol, as an example, because he knows that doesn’t bother me.
