In God’s Word we have many instances where God talked with people, lets look at some of them:

Gen. 1:28,  God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

Gen. 2:15-17, The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

Gen 3:9, But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

Gen. 6: 13,  So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

Exodus 4:14-15, Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do.

Luke 9:35, A voice came from the cloud, saying, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.”

I could have showed many many more but for the space I feel this is enough to show He has on occasion spoke to people. Notice these are actual words not just feelings as to what to do, or not do.

Now many don’t believe He still speaks to people and others feel they have heard Him speak of something He has for them, while others He has given them revelations to share.

Starting with the last group and moving to the first lets look at these and what has happened through them.

Many false religions have come from that last group, those that feel Jesus didn’t complete the work/message and write books that are taken as even more important than the Bible its self.

Then the middle group have heard God speaking, I’ll write more about these as I am one. I personnel have heard God on three occasions and all three times He has said something with out me praying.

First time was when I got upset with a Sunday School teacher that was preaching the lesson, so I went to another church, thinking I would just leave the other one.

Now remember I am pleased so there is NO reason for me to believe this happened because I wanted it since I didn’t! But I heard a voice (God speaking) but not in my ear.

It was as clear as if it were though and it was actual words not feelings. He said, “What are you doing here?” I proceeded to explain way I was there.

He interrupted me and said, “What are you doing here?” I said, “Ok God I see, I’ll be back next week.” By the way, the teacher, he was removed very soon afterward and I had said nothing to anyone but God.

Second time, and this one will take some explaining, was when He said to me He was going to move me after the first of the year.

Now even those that don’t believe God speaks believe He influences us to do certain things and He had already done this to prepare for this move and the work He had for me.

The Summer before this conversation He had me volunteering at a nursing center in York, SC. Many times people would ask why I was doing that and all I could say, God had me there for some reason.

I had no idea why but “felt” it was what He wanted. Now that is being influenced not directly told to do a particular thing.

In 2001 soon after the twin towers were destroyed, I was laid off since we lost so much work. Saw a friend that had left the company earlier and was told I could get work in Charlotte.

He was at the airport and said with my mechanical experience I could easily get a job. So the next day I started towards Charlotte, it was about thirty fife miles.

All the way I kept running into problems getting there- so I just asked, “God is this You?” And just like He was sitting there with me He said, “Yes, and I am going to move you right after the first of the year.”

I said, “Ok.” So without a job I turned around and headed back home. By the way, there was no problems going back- LOL Then He had more to tell me.

He said, “You need to get rid of that extra car and camper because you won’t need them where you’re going.”

To make a long story short, I did as I was told, and my Pastor? Well he asked, “Where is He sending you?” All I could say was, “He ain’t told me that part yet.”

To think about it, I didn’t even wonder just obeyed my orders from my Master.

Well again it would take a lot of time and space to explain what He did to bring thing together, that could NOT have if it wasn’t Him to bring about the move, but on January 6th 2002 I moved to Georgia.
Got married, even though I had decided to live the rest of my life alone and didn’t want a wife. But it seemed this one needed someone to take care of her the last year of her life.

Yes she died the day before we were married one year. When I looked back I could see His hand in all that was happening even before I met her, the nursing home for one!

Now the third time wasn’t a verbal speaking as the other two were but was just as clear. If you have been keeping up with my blog you are aware I was in prison at one time.

Well SCDC was in the process of opening two new institutions and shipping people every day from other institutions into these two. Didn’t wan t to open with all newbies.

I was working in the Law Library and every day I went in the Librarian (people from the street was over every group in prisons) would ask if I heard anything.

See she didn’t want to lose me because, well remember we are in prison, there were very few she could trust to not deal in drugs or pass contraband to those in lock up.

Yes there is a jail within the prison. Those that commit crimes withing the prison and caught are place there, but still have some rights. One of those rights is to be able to read books.

It was my job to take magazines, newspapers and books that they had ordered the last time I was there to them twice a week. The last one was taking cigarettes to them and now was one of them.

I could write a book on just my time working within lock up helping them get what they asked for. Actually those guys, although the worst of the worst, liked and appreciated me.

They also respected me and knew I would NOT break any of the laws/rules and only when a new one went in was I asked to, but I didn’t even have to answer because it came from those around him- NO!

One asked one day and the man in the next cell said, “You won’t get Calvin to do anything illegal, but he will bust his butt to get you the book you want and allows us to trade them among each other.

To get back to what I was saying, there was a fear that I could be transferred any day. No one wanted to go because things weren’t set up yet and you didn’t know what you would get in the way of work.

One weekend I was praying, asking God to allow me to stay there the rest of y time, I still had about 20 months to go before my release.

As I was praying, God gave me an assurance so clear that I knew He granted my request, didn’t even think of doubting. I see so many that say, I believe He is going to let me do this or that but still wonder.

There was NO doubt to me at all. I was so sure, that Monday morning when I walked in the library, Ms. Austin, asked, “Have you heard anything?” I said, “Yep I ain’t going anywhere.”

She said, “How do you know?” “Because Daddy told me I was going to stay here the rest of my time,” I answered. She asked, “Who is your daddy, a congressman?”

I grinned and said, “No He is a lot higher that that.” She asked, Whats his name?” I said, “Well most people know Him by His formal Name.” She asked, “Whats his formal name?”

I said, “God!” Her knowing I was a Christian, smiled looked back down at her paper work and never asked me again- yeah she also was a believer in the One and Only God of the Bible.

Oh and lastly the first group, the ones that don’t believe God still “speaks” to people, well it is like so many places in the Bible explains- if you don’t believe you won’t receive
