At first you would say, “Yes I believe and He didn’t lie!” So why is it so many times we act like we don’t believe Him? We pray asking for a need but not really believe He will give us what we ask!

John 15: 7 & 8, If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Matthew 21: 21 & 22, Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Matt. 7: 7-12, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

James 1: 2-5, Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

So why aren’t your prayers answered? Here are some possible reasons:

James 1: 6-7, But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because if he doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord.

Mark 9:23-24, “‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boys father exclaimed, “I do believe help me overcome my unbelief!”

Hebrews 11:6, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

We must come to the Lord with unwavering faith in Him.

What about when we pray about things that aren’t His will? Then He will not do that for you. I remember when my wife was ill, for a year, I prayed for her healing, then in the hospital I prayed, if she wasn’t going to get her transplant then take her home because she had suffered enough. Guess what, He did! Why are some people able to move on with life and others can’t?

Simple, there are those that accept the fact Jesus IS in control, He IS God and there isn’t anything that happens to us, good or bad, without His permission. So what did I learn?

I was selfish and wanted “my” will, but learned so much from that, after I got through my pity party, He wanted to bless her. I was standing in the way praying for her healing, so she and I were both blessed.

Remember “Trusting God regardless of what I see, 1, 2 & 3?” Seek, (study) His Word for the Scripture you need to pray “to” Him, for “your” healing! Then you are asking in His will and you will receive what you ask!
