The Master’s Prayer Part 4

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.” John 17:20-26 NIV

Heart in the Wrong Place

When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the table.  A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume. As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them. When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.” Jesus answered him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.” “Tell me, teacher,” he said. “Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?” Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.” “You have judged correctly,” Jesus said. Luke 7:36-43 NIV

Accept Jesus Now

Today is Your Day to Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior

Do you know enough right now to know that you do not need any more information? Have you already decided you want your sins forgiven? That you want to pass from death to life, eternal life? Do you want to start your new life with God now? Let God know this very moment by accepting the gift that Jesus is freely offering you.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Dear Lord, I admit that I am a guilty sinner in need of saving. I repent from trying to do it my way. I repent of my sins. I come before you asking for and accepting your grace and mercy. I believe Jesus paid the price for my sins in full on the cross. I thank you for forgiving all of my sins. I thank you for the gift of salvation. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I will follow you the rest of my life and share the truth with others. Amen

The Master’s Prayer Part 3

I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. John 17:13-19 NIV

Seek the Sick

One big problem we have is that it can take pretty long time for us to establish the condition of our health. It is a tragedy to be sick and be ignorant about it. There are many sicknesses that hide in the body for a long time without their symptoms showing up. By the time they are discovered, the damage would have been done. This, however, is not as common as the spiritual sickness that hide in people’s lives, keeping them for an eternal surprise.

When accused of eating with sinners (tax collectors precisely), Jesus gave an answer that was in the circumstances sarcastic but generally true. In Luke 5:27-32, the Bible records that Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, Levi got up, left everything and followed Him. Interesting! Jesus asked Levi to follow Him and the next thing we are told is that Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his (Levi’s) house. The Lord had just asked Levi to follow Him as He led the way to Levi’s home—sounds like self-invitation. A large crowd of tax collectors and others also joined at Levi’s home for a feast. The Pharisees and the teachers, however, complained to Jesus’ disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and ‘sinners’?”

The Master’s Prayer Part 1

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” John 17:1-5 NIV
