Did this title catch your attention? Many people associate being blessed with strictly financial giving. And I am not saying in this thesis that a person should not give financially, to ministries and other worthwhile causes. As I stated in previous articles on tithing and giving, we should give generously and not be bound by a percentage.

However, people need to broaden their view about giving and blessing. Consider the following Scripture passage, which says nothing about financial giving, but a whole lot about blessing in ways that money can’t buy.

“How blessed is he who considers the helpless; The Lord will deliver him in a day of trouble. The Lord will protect him, and keep him alive, And he shall be called blessed upon the earth; And do not give him over to the desire of his enemies. The Lord will sustain him upon his sickbed; In his illness, Thou dost restore him to health.” (Psalm 41:1-3)

Imagine that! All of this blessing just from attending to the helpless. Even though money is important, I do not know about you, but I would rather have this kind of blessing any day. True, it might cost something financially to “consider the helpless”, but the blessing goes way beyond financial.
