Spiritual Surrender and Following Your Heart’s Desire

As important as it is to wake up every morning, go to work, be involved in activities and ministries, and then get up the next morning and do this all over again, God wants us to both experience His blessings and to be a blessing to others, along the way. People need to “stop and smell the roses.” God desires for us to be “the light of the world” and the “salt of the earth.” Rise above the rut and stand out for Christ. We can stand above the crowd by the way we respond to people, situations, and opportunities that God causes to cross our path.

The Solution Disguised in the Problem

Did you know that the same switch that put off your light can put it on again? Of course you do! Since it is the same switch that puts on and off your light, it depends on what you decide to do with the switch. If it has put off your light, switch it again.

Did you know that the same stairs that took you “down” can take you “up”? Of course you do! Should you find yourself down, having been taken there by the stairs, don’t complain. Whether you will remain down or go up depends on you. If you want to be “up”, reverse your direction and follow the same stairs that took you down—they will take you up, guaranteed!

Can God Hate People?

Introduction:
I have a good friend and we debate our theologies on occasion. Recently, she made a claim that in order for one to be a true Calvinist they would have to believe God does not love everybody. In fact, she seemed to imply that God would have to even hate those whom He does not choose for salvation. As a “true” Calvinist myself, I disagree with her assessment and wrote a brief article basically explaining why and how those in Reformed theological circles can indeed believe God does love all people.

However, there are many Calvinists that actually do hold the position she presented, so I thought I’d play “devil’s advocate” and present a case from that view as well. How are they able to believe God hates people? How can they claim He has the ability to hate any of His creation? If God is love, then how can He possibly hate anyone, or anything for that matter?

Accept Jesus Now

Today is Your Day to Accept Jesus as Lord and Savior

Do you know enough right now to know that you do not need any more information? Have you already decided you want your sins forgiven? That you want to pass from death to life, eternal life? Do you want to start your new life with God now? Let God know this very moment by accepting the gift that Jesus is freely offering you.

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Dear Lord, I admit that I am a guilty sinner in need of saving. I repent from trying to do it my way. I repent of my sins. I come before you asking for and accepting your grace and mercy. I believe Jesus paid the price for my sins in full on the cross. I thank you for forgiving all of my sins. I thank you for the gift of salvation. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I will follow you the rest of my life and share the truth with others. Amen

Entering the Enemy’s Camp – Part 2

“See, you’re trying to steal my joy, my peace, my family and bring confusion to my mind but I won’t allow it. I refuse to go to that place of confusion. All that you are trying to steal, God gave them to me. They are mine ‘for keeps’. I will not allow you to rob me of my joy or my peace.

God told me that I am free: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (St. John 8:36, KJV). I believe God. Moreover, through my freedom, comes love[1] that ignites my joy, my peace, and my self-control. These are included in the many gifts that God has given to me, so I can worship Him in spirit and in truth. Therefore, I command you, in the name of Jesus Christ, to take your hands off me and all those connected to me. I have allowed you and your demons to sit comfortably in my house but no more! My freedom in Christ, represents broken chains for God told me that EVERY SHACKLE HAS BEEN BROKEN.

The Master’s Prayer Part 3

I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. John 17:13-19 NIV
